a little work, a LOTTA play ...

YES, I admit .... I am as guilty as any of the 4 of us .... I have been playing a little too hard with these gals lately.  Here we are, with our smiles and our pretty clothes and only ONE WHOLE song off paper & presentable!!  However, that being said- we did discuss our current status and are all agreeable that it is time to reverse our status of play, then work.  From here on out - WE GOTTA get our homework done BEFORE we show up for class !!

what flavor is YOUR vanilla??

it may sound like a silly question ... but it's OH-SO pertinent, OH-SO often!!!

ONCE UPON A TIME, I was in a business meeting where the speaker asked us to each "think" about an ice cream sundae.  She went on to talk about other things, then came back to the flavorful topic ... by asking each of us to describe the treat she had earlier mentioned.  MUCH to the surprise of all of us- not one single sundae was the same!  Her point of the exercise was to show how we "assume" that others know what we're talking about when often ... they have a different "sundae" pictured.  SUCH was the outcome here.  The LOGO is perf - the choice of PURPLE ... a little questionable- it looks a bit salmon(ish) to me!!  NEVER leave the final approval to a man (I guess)

in case we forget our OWN name!

DUN'T ask me why (and I DO MEAN "dun't") .... but individuals of quartets seem to need a reminder of what their name is?!!  I'm not complaining mind you, since it means another piece of bling.  And most women (not to mention ALL Sweet Adelines) feel there is never toooo much bling.  It's one of the "good things" one can never have enough of.  And so ... without further adieu .... I present to you (and them) ... our first nameplates as a Qtet ... with more to come, I'm sure! 

and so the legacy begins

Life as a quartet started out "bigger" .... we got our feet wet in a double Q with 4 other crazy ladies, during our 2011 Fall Festival.  It's an event designed to give small ensembles a stage experience that's totally different than being in a chorus. Someone musta had so much fun- they wanted to do it for real!  seen here .... BEDROOM EYEZZZ.   There has been some mention of the Qtet having more costuming than songs ... and to SOME extent that's true, but we actually have 6 sings in the works ... and only 1 wearable top at this point.  I am the costume-visualization-consultant so far.  We are taking pre-used or inexpensive casual items and adding a little bling, just to keep them from being "chopped liver" .... but, if & when we sign up to compete ... we might bite the bullet fer some fancy duds!

SO- occassionally, there is cause to celebrate.  WE think that's pretty much every time we get together- but there are times when even more is going on to say "cheers" to.  We had a chorus gathering on Cinco de Mayo- and dressing the part seemed the best way to present ourselves.  IF YOU stay tuned each week- you're gonna learn a whole lot more about us than you even planned on.

Life is a song book ... and we are going to leaf through the pages for as long as our arthritic fingers will allow!

music for the wounded soul

There are times when music means the most to me.  This Is one of those times ...
As the maiden voyage out into the blog world with post "numero uno" for The SeaGlass Quartet ... I just want to state LOUD & CLEAR that the friends & strength I have gained through the Sweet Adeline organization (& the oh, so amazing harmony of barbershop) - is phenomenol. 
I can hum myself into another world when life is a little too much to handle.  AND I KNOW ... that during the times when things are a little more emotional & difficult- I have a dozen people willing to let me vent or cry on their shoulder.  THANK YOU music ... thank you S-A sistas!!
